It’s amazing to me the kind of bullshit that wouldn’t cut it on the Wikipedia is perfectly acceptable in the context of legitimate journalism. I have to give the article some credit in attempting to treat this fairly, but it’s mostly the kind of sensationalist fluff piece that you’d see on Taboo or Strange Sex. “Isn’t that weird, man?”
Can we get around to agreeing that gender roles are strictly societal constructs? Not fitting into neat little boxes shouldn’t make a kid a weirdo or a freak. The problem is with how we, as a society, look at gender as this sort of immutable thing. It isn’t.
